Roy Strickland is a proud member of The Rotary Club of Paulding County. He serves there as Rotary Foundation Co-Director and District Conference Chair.
Roy served in 2009-2010 as District Governor of Rotary International District 6900. It was a year of superlative accomplishment for the district. District 6900 delivered more service with more projects and more grants than any other Rotary district in the world - and this in a year with no financial match from The Rotary Foundation.
Prior to 2009-2010, Roy served multiple terms as District Paul Harris Society Chair. In that tenure, the District’s Paul Harris Society grew to be the largest Paul Harris Society in the world.
Roy joined the Smyrna Rotary Club in 1996 and served as club President in 1997-1998 with a second term in 2006-2007. He has twice been named Smyrna’s Rotarian of the Year.
Roy is the 1998 recipient of the District’s Sheffield Leadership Award and in 2004 was named District 6900 Rotarian of the Year. He has twice been awarded the District Foundation Service Award.
Roy is a 2006 recipient of the Citation for Meritorious Service awarded by the Trustees of The Rotary Foundation. He was awarded the Presidential Citation in 2010 by Rotary International President John Kenny.
Roy is a Paul Harris Fellow, a Charter Member of The Paul Harris Society, a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member, and a Georgia Rotary Student Program Will Watt Fellow. He has perfect Rotary attendance since 1996.
Roy and his wife Suzanne both give back to the community. Suzanne for many years has done volunteer work for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Roy and Suzanne have 2 adult sons and 2 grandsons. Suzanne is a Paul Harris Fellow and she and Roy are Rotary Foundation Major Donors.
Roy is an Atlanta native and a graduate of Georgia State University. A long-time Cobb County businessman, he has been in the automobile business most of his adult life and has dealt with investment properties. He is recently retired but remains active in various endeavors. Roy’s passion in Rotary is The Rotary Foundation. Both his club and District 6900 have excelled in service and giving in times of his leadership.
