Raised Garden Beds for Special Needs Students

At the Marietta Middle School, there is a special needs class which utilizes plantings to develop their motor skills, and improve communication, planning ability and physical dexterity. By allowing students to plant flower and vegetable beds, they have the opportunity to produce vegetables and flowers which can be shared among their classmates and with others. The Rotary Club of Marietta Metro build a raised garden bed. It was built to accommodate wheelchairs. The flower beds were constructed with materials and in a way to allow them to be used for several years. We are also providing a sensory table for students to enhance the gardening experience and we have assisted with additional landscaping materials like pavers and landscape timbers.
