FODAC Collection for the Underserved

The Rotary Club of Marietta Metro partners with FODAC (Friends of Disabled Adults and Children) to sponsor a collection day of new and gently used home medical equipment. These items would then be redistributed to deserving individuals. The last event was held on Saturday, April 22, 2023. FODAC parked their truck in the First Presbyterian Church parking lot, 189 Church Street, Marietta, between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm for the collection. Several Marietta Metro Rotarians were in attendance throughout the day to assist with unloading equipment. In addition, some equipment was picked up at individual's homes before and after the event. Marketing included letters to all churches in Marietta and to all funeral homes in Cobb County. Notices were be posted on Linked in and Facebook, notices went to all the Rotary Clubs in Cobb County, Retirement communities and the local newspapers. WellStar Health System, Cobb County Senior Services and MUST Ministries were contacted. We also solicited the services of our local Interact club. The money spent for the project was for copies and mailings.

We were given credit for the collection of $208,000 worth of medical equipment and supplies!

Many thanks to Chris Brand and Ron Hess of FODAC for their tremendous help. Chris is a member of the Stone Mountain Rotary Club.
