Sharing the Love - Roses for Valentine's Day

Many seniors are alone and isolated. One point of contact for many of them is their daily delivery from Meals on Wheels. In Cobb County, Senior Services provides meals daily to about 90 residents. This year, to spread some goodwill and cheer, the Rotary Club of Marietta Metro opted to gift every senior with a beautiful red rose in a bud vase, with baby's breath, a heart, and a card sayting the flower was from our club and "Happy Valentine's Day." The feedback was that the roses were very much appreciated.

Our club also provided the same roses for the women of the Women's Extension. These women are housed in a facility which is voluntary but requires them to have a job, attend group sessions, have counseling and drug testing. They are isolated from their families particularly in the early days of their stays. our hope was that the roses would brighten their day and remind them that they are not forgotten.
