There is an organization called Out of Darkness which is a subsidiary of Frontline. The organization serves to rescue women and perhaps men who have been lost in the world of prostitution. On a "Princess Night" representatives from Out of Darkness go out in the streets and give information to prostitutes about there being hope and help. The women or men then can ask for help and will be rescued. They are then taken to a safe house where they can start to rebuild their lives. When they arrive at the safe house, they are given a basket full of personal toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste, body wash, deodorant, lotion, face cleanser, etc. They are also given a comb and brush and a towel and washcloth. Very imporantly, they are given a Bible based on the 12 Step program. They usually have nothing so this gives them something of their own and helps meet their immediate needs. Our club donated the contents of 24 baskets and delivered them on March 14. On April 25, volunteers from Out of Darkness will be our guest speakers at our club meeting and share more details about their program and the need for it.
