EXTENSION – This is a licensed residential and recovery program serving homeless men and women of Cobb County who suffer from alcohol and other addictions.Would be residents undergo a rigorous assessment to assure that they are genuinely committee to starting a new chapter in their lives. Then begins the long, tough challenge of reclaiming their lives from the clutches of chemical dependency.
In addition to substance abuse counseling, they provide residents with educational opportunities and life skills training. After more than twenty-five years of service in the Cobb community, they have built strong relationships with local businesses and organizations, relationships they draw on to place residents in jobs within weeks their arrival.
Our club provides dinner to residents (approximately 50) once per quarter at both the Men's and Women's Extension. This year as a special project, a new storage closet was built in their dining hall. Having the closet enables them to keep the area neat and organized The project was done by skilled Rotarians and turned out beautifully.
There is a requirement and opportunity for residents to receive training to help them overcome their addictions and prepare them to becontributing members of our community.One way this is achieved it to offer Life Skills classes on a regular basis.The Men's Extension has a need for three erasable white boards to be used by the instructors.They are large white boards suitable for a classroom setting.The cost including taxes and delivery is approximately $500.
