HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS -
1) Several events will be held to educate the public about the dangers of human trafficking. The West Cobb YMCA will host a seminar at their facility on October 22 and Susan Norris of “Saving Hope” will speak. Other programs are planned including with Interact clubs.
2) We participated in a S.O.A.P. initiative (Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution). This is a program where bars of soap are distributed to local hotels with a phone number for those being trafficked to call for help. An additional one is planned March 28 in preparation for the NCAA Men's Final Four tournament in Atlanta.
3)Several Rotary clubs in the district are joining together to support district efforts. One is focusing on stopping trafficking during the NCAA championship in the spring.
4)At the Junior League of Cobb County meeting on Tuesday, September 10, the guest speaker was First Lady, Marty Kemp, who has a Stop Human Trafficking initiative called the Grace Commission. We are investigating ways to support her initiative.
