CCYA New Convection Oven & Chrome Books for GED Classes

CENTER FOR CHILDREN & YOUNG ADULTS – The mission of The Center for Children & Young Adults (CCYA) is to provide a safe and nurturing environment with comprehensive services for homeless youth and young adults who have been abused, abandoned, neglected, or are at risk. As a part of the state foster care system, they house, feed, clothe and develop homeless and maltreated youth in the Atlanta Metro area.

This year, our goal it to replace their industrial convection oven. The center provides meals for the residents and adult counselors three times/day and this oven is a critical part of their food delivery system. The current oven cannot be repaired and may fail at any time so the need is critical. Several quotes were received for replacement ovens. The cost includes the oven and installation by a certified electrician.

Because of a variety of reasons, some students are not able to complete their high school education in the traditional way. The Center has created a special GED class to enable them to obtain their GEDs and help prepare them to enter the work force or continue their educations when they age out of the Center. The students utilize Chrome Books to accomplish tasks and complete assignments. The current Chrome Books are over 6 years old and need replacing. These Chrome Books will be utilized by this year's class then handed down for future students' use. These funds will purchase 8 Chrome Books and cover the licensing fees.
