For several years, the Marietta Metro Rotary Club has delivered a Student Dictionary to every 3rd grade child in the Marietta City School system. In the past, club members would attend each class and conduct a short training session focusing on not only the words in the dictionary but also the supplemental information in the book - geography, periodic table, state and country information, flag pictures and presidential biographies. They also shared information about Rotary and the Four Way Test. This year, because of COVID restrictions, club members were not allowed to visit the classrooms. Regardless, this year our volunteers delivered over 800 dictionaries to the schools for distribution by the teachers to support literacy in our community. Our hope is that we will be able to visit the students next year.
